Family Tree

ENGLISH & AUSTRALIAN BRANCHES

Welcome to the official Brockman and Drake-Brockman Family Tree homepage.  I am an Australian descendant, however, this web site is very much a joint venture between the English and Australian families so I hope all family members enjoy their visit to this site. Our earliest known relative is John Brockman (c.1360) and this site contains all of his known descendants which are displayed in a combined family tree as well as smaller sub-branches including, the two English branches known as the senior and junior branches, and three Australian branches. The senior and junior branches contains descendants commonly referred to as the Beachborough and Whitefield family lines while the Australian branches are known as the William Locke Brockman, Robert James Brockman and the James Groves Birdwood Drake-Brockman lines. This site also features numerous photos of plaques in various family churches in and around Kent, a section on the development of the coat-of-arms, and information about the old family estate of Beachbrorough Park which is located near Newington in Kent. As new information comes to hand this site will be updated so I encourage you to provide input and/or submit photos you think will be of interest. While you are visiting, please take the time to check your details on the family trees and submit updates using the 'Info Update Form' under the Contact Me menu. In addition, there is a Guest Book so please feel free to provide feedback and your contact details.

For information on some outstanding Australian family members, visit 'Notable Persons' under the Important People menu. A page on outstanding English descendants is being developed and will be available later. The first ancestor to arrive in Australia was William Locke Brockman who came to the Swan River Colony (now Perth, Western Australia) in January 1830.  William's brother Robert James Brockman arrived a year later in December 1831, and they were followed by their nephew James Groves Birdwood Drake-Brockman who arrived in 1872 after serving as a police officer in India.
