The original Australian family tree book was published back in 1993 and obviously since then, people have died, married and had children. Subsequently, I have been trying to think of how best I could continue to get family members to send me updates of their family details. Then came the idea of building this web page. Hence, can you please look at your family on the trees in the 'Family Tree' tag on the menu above, and advise me of any additions I need to make as well as any omissions or corrections. In 1993 when this book was launched, over 550 copies were pre-sold to families members so I need to respect the investment made by these people. So unfortunately, if you have a genealogy software package, I will not be making this material available via Gedcom or any other means so please do not ask as I do not want to cause any offence by my refusal. Additionally, the primary purpose of having the family tree data displayed in one central place is to avoid incorrect data being circulated all over the web which is a problem I see every day.

The internet is a wonderful tool, however, when incorrect information gets posted, everyone copies this and the error is exacerbated. I have found numerous family tree sites particularly, American family trees, which have a Brockman connection and in many instances, they have all copied the same incorrect source so now everyone has the same mistake. I am just one of a number of Brockman and Drake-Brockman family genealogists and we often discuss how frustrating this is and an impossible task to rectify.
